Bietigheim-Bissingen
Modern art - e.g. the “Ku(h)riosum” by Jürgen Görtz - and historical half-timbered buildings form an exciting
coexistence in the city on Enz and Metter (40,500 inhabitants, 301m above sea level, 380 beds).
Bietigheim-Bissingen's almost completely preserved medieval old town offers impressive signs of historical
architecture, coupled with modern architecture and art, in a very small space.
The prosperity achieved through the wine trade in earlier centuries gave rise to today's “Enz-Florence”.
Magnificent half-timbered buildings such as the Hornmoldhaus, castle, lower gate, Latin school and town hall are
witnesses of this period. Together with numerous alleys, squares and courtyards, they form a picturesque gem.
At the same time, visitors today also encounter witnesses of our time - sculptures populate the street space and
thus give the cityscape an exciting ambience. The municipal gallery presents top-class exhibitions with art from
classical to contemporary modernism. The Hornmoldhaus City Museum impresses with its magnificent interior
paintings and ornamental framework from the Renaissance period as well as with interesting temporary
exhibitions.
Upstream from the Enz, the impressive viaduct with its 21 arches and the geological rock formations from
earlier millennia along the Wobach rock are impressive.
