Eschwege - A strong piece of the Werra Valley

The young-at-heart half-timbered town of Eschwege with more than 1,000 richly decorated half-timbered houses
with wonderful flat carvings in the old town center invites you to take a journey into the past: the former
Landgrave's castle with the Dietemann art clock and Frau Holle fountain in the inner courtyard, the old town hall
with special flat carvings and a carillon , the Raiffeisenhaus, a half-timbered gem in the old town, the market
church of St. Dionysus with the prince's crypt, the Neustadt church with Hesse's most important stone pulpit and
the Nikolaiturm, which you can climb, are some of the stops on the city walk. Shops, restaurants and cafés invite
you to stroll and linger in the pedestrian zones. The nearby Schulberg with the Sophien Garden is an oasis of peace
in the middle of the old town.
