Wetzlar - city with flair and history
Impressive half-timbered houses, playful baroque buildings and the remarkable cathedral towers above everything.
The path leads over the Lahn Bridge, which is over 700 years old, into the romantic old town of Wetzlar - from
1690 the seat of the highest court in the Holy Roman Empire. In 1772, a young legal intern named Goethe
ended up in Wetzlar. The emotional experiences of this short summer gave him the material for "The Sorrows
of Young Werther" - an instant bestseller. The whole of Europe was in “Werther fever” at the time.
