Three-river city and half-timbered jewel in the Weserbergland
Alexander Humboldt is said to have once described the city at the confluence of the Werra and Fulda to form the
Weser as “one of the seven most beautifully situated cities in the world”. With over 700 half-timbered houses,
magnificent Weser Renaissance buildings and old city fortifications, the city invites you to experience history live.
Thanks to intensive renovation efforts, Hann. Münden became a half-timbered town of European standing.
Numerous awards such as “Europa Nostra” confirm this. Stroll through atmospheric alleys, discover half-timbered
houses with inscriptions, bay windows and decorated portals. The Weserstein, where Fulda and Werra join to form
the Weser, should of course not be missed during a visit. If you like it more tranquil, you can take a boat tour
from here and enjoy the idyll of Werra, Fulda and Weser. Water sports enthusiasts explore the region by canoe,
kayak or rowing boat. Hann also offers something for cyclists. Münden has the best conditions with a direct
connection to the Weser, Werra, Fulda and Weser-Harz-Heide cycle paths. Important hiking trails, such as the
Weserbergland-Weg, the Werra-Burgen-Steig or the Loccum-Volkenroda pilgrimage route, begin in or lead through
Hann. Münden. The Münden Nature Park offers a total of 450 km of hiking trails. Interactive water features, the
“Water Traces,” found their way into the city in 2000. Between May and the beginning of October, daily city tours
(10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.) from the historic town hall invite you to discover the city.
