Windmills and Wetterdorf Oderwitz

In the tranquil border triangle of Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic, the windmill and weather village of
Oderwitz stretches along the B 96. Three post mills characterize the townscape. In the “Birkmühle” there are not only mill tours, but you can also
visit the “1. “Saxon Wedding Mill” in a romantic flair. The 510m high Spitzberg has always been an interesting destination. From its striking viewing rock
(with a recognized climbing area) you can enjoy a unique panoramic view of Upper Lusatia and Bohemia. At the foot of Spitzberg lies the “toboggan park” with the summer toboggan run, which is popular with young
and old. For visitors interested in the weather, Oderwitz offers the unique “Weather Cabinet”. Here you can get an insight
into the world of weather observations and forecasts in the form of weather lectures. (Lectures by appointment
at 035842/2230) In addition to the children's learning workshop "Inventor's Box", visitors can look forward to two riding stables,
a pony ranch, a carriage company, a model railway exhibition, two bowling alleys, a shooting range and a
beautiful public pool. Hiking and cycling enthusiasts can also discover Oderwitz via the Oberlausitzer Bergweg or the Oberlausitzer
cycle path Zittau-Bayreuth. On hiking trails over the Spitzberg and along the Landwasser you can enjoy the place and nature to the fullest.
Two mill circular hiking trails lead you to the three post mills and the former watermill in town, which is still in
operation. On the Oderwitz mill path you can marvel at all the former and still existing mills.
If you are interested in the unique construction, Oberlausitzer Umgebindehausstrasse is
the right place for you. At the rest and information area in front of the municipal administration you will find all information about hiking
trails, excursion destinations and half-timbered houses in Oderwitz. As you can see, a visit to us is worthwhile at any time of the year and we look forward to your coming.
