Waiblingen - art on the banks of the Rems
More than 53,000 residents live in the large district town of Waiblingen, which is also the administrative center of
the Rems-Murr district with 420,000 inhabitants. The medium-sized center, located approximately 12 km east of
the state capital Stuttgart, offers all the advantages of a metropolitan region without any of the disadvantages.
Waiblingen is one of the most beautiful half-timbered towns in southern Germany. The old town with its dominant
towers and impressive half-timbered houses invites you to take a tour of discovery. Tradition and modernity meet
in the city on the Rems. An efficient economy, a diverse range of restaurants, attractive shopping, numerous
festivals and cultural events as well as the diversity of the landscape are an expression of the liveliness and
openness of Waiblingen.
Waiblingen's old town enchants with its winding streets, romantic squares, pretty half-timbered houses, imposing
towers and the city wall with a battlement, which is accessible in many places. Houses with unusual envious
heads that look down on visitors from above are a specialty in southern Germany. The city's oldest building, a
former tanner's house at Weingärtner Vorstadt 20, stands opposite the youngest ensemble of gallery, art school
and Café Disegno.
